(1) Growing a Growth Mindset Through the Creative Arts
Using Art as a Tool to Develop a Growth Mindset in our Kids
Have a perfectionist kid?
Do you have a perfectionist kid? Or maybe it's you that's so afraid of doing something wrong that you are scared to try new things. If you recognize those feelings this creative experience was made for you and your kiddos!
Have you heard of the "growth mindset" concept? It says that people, with practice, can do most anything they put their minds to.
A growth mindset isn't an easy, breezy "you can do it" kind of pep talk or a simple worksheet you can refer to. Rather, it's a way of thinking that helps kids realize they CAN do hard things but only by being brave and putting themselves out there. A growth mindset normalizes failure as part of the learning process. Doing big things can be hard and scary but is so worth it.
The focus is self expression...
While some of my programs focus on learning art history or the elements of art this Growth Mindset unit is a bit different.
